Choosing a Profession
In this world man cannot live without doing a profession. He must have to do some sort of profession to maintain his livelihood. But which professions should he follow?

There are many professions in the world, such as the professions of doctor, engineer, professor, officer, teacher, soldier, clerk, peon, driver, conductor, jailor, collector, printer, publisher, welder, moulder, draftsman, machineman, policeman, milkman, oilman, fisherman, washerman, trader, shop-keeper and so on. It is very difficult for a man to choose the right profession for himself.

Choosing a profession is very difficult, no doubt. Because a man wishes to get a profession that carries high power, fat salary and high quarters with beautiful furniture. But he forgets to consider how far he is fit for this profession. How far he is able to do this work and whether he will like to do the nature of work allied with this profession. So, it is very likely that he may do a wrong choice of profession.

A profession which is right for one man be wrong for another. Because ability and aptitude differ from man to man. If a man takes up a profession for which he is unfit, he leads a life of unhappiness, inefficiency and frustration. Life becomes a burden to him. Suppose a man likes to sit and do clerical works but he joins the executive line only because that carries handsome pay, position and power. Consequently he proves misfit and feels miserable. So, he cannot prosper in his profession.

Choosing a profession, is no doubt important in one"s life. So, one should choose a profession after thinking over the pros and cons of it.

My Future Profession
Finishing school is the beginning of the independent life for millions of school leavers. Many roads are opened before them: vocational and technical schools, institutes and universities. But it is not an easy thing to choose a profession out of more than 2,000 existing in the world. Some pupils follow the advice of their parents, others can"t decide even after leaving school.

As for me, I made my choice long ago. I want to become a teacher of the Ukrainian language and literature. My choice of this occupation didn"t come as a sudden flash. During all school years literature was my favourite subject. I"ve read a lot of books by Ukrainian and foreign writers. I understand that reading books helps people in self education and in solving different life problems.

I would like to teach my pupils to enjoy reading, to encourage them to learn our national language and literature, which is the source of national culture. It is known that teaching is a very specific and difficult job. It shouldn"t be taken easily. The teacher is a person who is learning as well as teaching all his life.

Most jobs can be done within the usual office hours from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m., but teacher"s work is never done and evenings are usually spent in marking exercise-books and preparing for the next lesson.

It"s not as easy as it may seem at first. But I think that love for children combined with the knowledge I"ll get at the University would be quite enough to succeed in my work.

Окончание школы — это начало самостоятельной жизни для миллионов выпускников. Перед ними открыто много дорог: профучилища и техникумы, институты и университеты. Но нелегко выбрать одну профессию из 2000, существующих в мире. Некоторые ученики следуют советам своих родителей, другие же не могут сделать выбор даже после окончания школы.

Что касается меня, я сделал(а) свой выбор давно. Я хочу стать учителем украинской литературы и языка. Мой выбор этой профессии не был неожиданностью. Все школьные годы моим любимым предметом была литература. Я читал(а) много книг украинских и зарубежных писателей. Я понимаю, что чтение книг помогает людям в самообразовании и в решении разных жизненных проблем.

Мне бы хотелось научить детей получать удовольствие от чтения, помочь им выучить родной язык и литературу, который является источником национальной культуры. Известно, что профессия учителя особенная и трудная. К ней нельзя относиться легкомысленно. Учитель — это человек, который учится сам и учит других всю жизнь.

Большинство работ выполняется в обычные рабочие часы с 9 утра до 5 вечера, но работа учителя никогда не заканчивается, и вечера обычно заняты проверкой тетрадей и подготовкой к следующему уроку.

Это не так легко, как кажется на первый взгляд. Но я думаю, что любовь к детям, соединенная со знаниями, которые я получу в университете, поможет мне преуспеть в работе.

I want to write you about my future career.

I am a school-leaver and this year I am finishing school. When you leave school, you understand that the time to choose your future profession has come. It is not an easy task to choose the right job for you.

There are a lot of different professions and it is really hard to choose the one, which would be interesting for you and will help you earn your living. Generally, I think that choosing the right job is the main question not only for a school-leaver, but also for all the family.

I would like to become a teacher. In my opinion, to be a teacher is not an easy task because you need not only to love children, but you also should have an ability to explain things clearly, know your subject profoundly and be an all around person. Though this is not the easiest task, I am sure that I have got almost all necessary qualities to become a really good teacher.

Nowadays it is very important to know a foreign language, especially English. More and more people need qualified teachers to teach them today. I understand that this profession is greatly demanded and that is why I would like to become an English teacher. This year I am going to enter the department of foreign languages at the local .

Есть много разных профессий, и это действительно трудно выбрать ту, которая была бы интересна для тебя и помогла бы тебе заработать на жизнь. Вообще, я думаю, что выбор правильной работы - главный вопрос не только для выпускника, но и для всей семьи.

Я хотела бы стать учителем. На мой взгляд, быть учителем не простая задача, потому что ты должен не только любить детей, но ты также должен уметь объяснить вещи ясно, знать свой предмет глубоко и уважать человека. Хотя это не самая простая задача, но я уверена, что у меня есть почти все необходимые качества, чтобы стать действительно хорошим учителем.

В настоящее время очень важно знать иностранный язык, особенно английский. Все больше и больше людей нуждаются в квалифицированных учителях, чтобы их научили языку сегодня. Я понимаю, что эта профессия очень востребована и именно поэтому я хотела бы стать учителем английского языка. В этом году я собираюсь поступить на факультет иностранных языков в местном университете.

The choice of one’s future profession is a very important step. Quite often, work becomes a significant part of our life and takes most of our time. Many people don’t like what they do to earn money. It makes them tired and depressed. And I want to feel happy every working day, so I am going to choose a profession that is interesting to me.

At the moment I go to school. I am seventeen years old and this is my last year. I’ve been thinking about my future profession for the last months a lot. Now finally it seems that I know what to do. My passion is music and I am going to become a musician.

My parents didn’t approve this decision, because I don’t have any musiceducation. I didn’t go to music school, I took no private music lessons. But in my opinion, it isn’t a problem. Last summer I bought an electric guitar and started to learn to play by myself. There are plenty of video lessons on the Internet. They help me to develop my technique and I see my progress.

At the same time, I started to learn music theory and solfeggio. I downloaded best tutorials from the web and organized my own lessons in the evenings. Usually I spend one or two hours learning music and two or three hours practicing onthe guitar every day. So it’s quite a lot of work to do regularly. But I never get tired, because I enjoy what I do and I appreciate the results.

I am going to enter University of Culture and Arts in my city. There is always a big competition there, but I think my chances are high. I will take a couple of lessons with one of their music teachers. Thus I will make sure that I am ready for the entrance exams. It is still a long way to go before I get ready; I will have to continue my everyday lessons until the end of the schoolyear. The success depends only on me and I am going towork hard towards my goal.

Выбор будущей профессии – очень важный шаг. Зачастую работа становится значительной частью нашей жизни и отнимает большую часть нашего времени. Многим людям не нравится то, что они делают, чтобы заработать деньги. Из-за этого они устают и впадают в депрессию. А я хочу чувствовать себя счастливым каждый рабочий день, поэтому я собираюсь выбрать профессию, которая мне интересна.

Сейчас я хожу в школу. Мне семнадцать лет, и это мой последний год обучения. В последние месяцы я много думал о своей будущей профессии. Теперь, похоже, я, наконец, знаю, что мне делать. Моя страсть – это музыка, и я собираюсь стать музыкантом.

Мои родители не одобрили это решение, потому что у меня нет никакого музыкального образования. Я не ходил в музыкальную школу, не занимался с репетиторами. Но, на мой взгляд, это не проблема. Прошлым летом я купил электрогитару и стал учиться играть самостоятельно. В интернете есть множество видеоуроков. Они помогают мне развивать технику, и я вижу свой прогресс.

В то же время я начал учить теорию музыки и сольфеджио. Я скачал лучшие учебники из интернета и организовал для себя самостоятельные уроки по вечерам. Обычно я каждый день один-два часа изучаю музыкальную теорию и два-три часа практикуюсь на гитаре. Так что я регулярно проделываю значительную работу. Но я никогда не устаю, потому что наслаждаюсь тем, что делаю, и я доволен результатом.

Я собираюсь поступать в Университет культуры и искусств в моем городе. Там всегда большой конкурс, но, думаю, мои шансы высоки. Я возьму пару уроков у одного из их преподавателей. Таким образом, я смогу убедиться, что готов к вступительным экзаменам. До того, как я буду готов, еще предстоит пройти долгий путь; мне придется продолжать свои ежедневные занятия до конца учебного года. Успех зависит только от меня, и я буду усердно трудиться ради достижения своей цели.

My Future Profession

Finishing school can be compared with starting a new life, an independent life for millions of pupils. They have a lot of opportunities to continue their education, to get higher education and to become professionally trained specialists. Many roads are provided for the prospective student: colleges, institutes and universities.
But it is certainly a difficult task to choose a profession for yourself, to find your path from out of more than 2,000 existing in the world. Some pupils listen to their parent"s advice; others cannot make a decision even after leaving school.
As for me, I have found my way in professional world long ago. I want to become a teacher of the English language and literature. My choice of this occupation was not a sudden flash.
During all school studies, literature was one of my favorite subject. I have read plenty of literary works, especially novels and science fiction by Russian and foreign writers and poets. I am absolutely sure, that reading books is an essential part of self-education and self-improvement.
I would like to teach my students enjoy the process of reading, to encourage them to learn our national language and literature, in order to be able to speak eloquently and to fascinate everyone with their speech. Teaching is a really specific and difficult job. It should be treated with respect. The educator is a person who is learning and teaching through all his life.
Most jobs have limited working hours, for instance from 9 a. m. until 5 p. m., but teacher"s work continues during all evenings, which they usually spend in, marking exercise books and preparing for the next classes.
Teachers do not only teach their subjects, a real teacher develops genuine interest in the subject, so that students will plunge with their heads in their study. They try to develop all kinds of intelligence, such as logical, visual, musical, interpersonal and body intelligence. Teachers play an important role in forming the views and characters of students, their attitudes to life and to other people. It is a great responsibility and a teacher must be a model of competence himself.
Not every work is as easy as it can seem at first. But I think that love for children plus the knowledge I"ll get at the University would give me enough information and skills to be quite successful in my work and to go up the career ladder.
I am applying to the philological department and I am sure my dream will come true as soon as possible.

Окончание школы можно сравнить с началом новой жизни, самостоятельной жизни для миллионов школьников. У них много возможностей для продолжения своего образования, получения высшего образования, они могут стать профессионально обученными специалистами. Будущим студентам открыто много дорог: колледжи, институты и университеты.
Но, конечно, это сложная задача - найти свою стезю, выбрать профессию для себя из более чем 2000 существующих в мире. Некоторые ученики слушают советы своих родителей, другие не могут принять решение даже после окончания школы.
Что касается меня, я давно нашел свой путь в профессиональном мире. Я хочу стать учителем английского языка и литературы. Мой выбор профессии не был случайным.
В школе литература была одним из моих любимых предметов. Я прочитал много литературных произведений, особенно романов и научной фантастики русских и зарубежных писателей и поэтов. Я абсолютно уверен, что чтение книг является неотъемлемой частью самовоспитания и самосовершенствования.
Я бы хотел научить своих студентов наслаждаться процессом чтения, побудить их узнать наш национальный язык и нашу литературу, для того чтобы иметь возможность говорить красноречиво и очаровывать всех своей речью. Обучение - это на самом деле специфическая и трудная работа. К ней следует относиться с некоторым уважением. Учитель - это человек, который учится и учит на протяжении всей жизни.
Работа в большинстве своем ограничена рабочими часами, например, с 9 утра до 5 вечера, но работа учителей продолжается и по вечерам, которые они обычно проводят, выставляя оценки в тетради учеников и готовясь к следующим урокам.

Но я считаю, что любовь к детям в сочетании со знаниями, которые я получу в университете, даст мне достаточно информации и навыков, чтобы быть вполне успешным в своей работе и двигаться по карьерной лестнице.
Я подаю заявку на обучение на филологическом факультете, и я уверен, что моя мечта сбудется так скоро, насколько это возможно.

What do you want to be when you grow up? We have heard this question many times during our school years. Perhaps, it was difficult for us to give a definite answer earlier. But now we understand that the time to choose our future profession has come. Finishing school is the beginning of an independent life for millions of school-leavers. Many roads are open before us: technical schools, colleges and universities. Centuries ago there were only a few jobs: people were farmers, bakers, butchers or carpenters. Today there are thousands of different kinds of jobs, and new ones are constantly appearing. No wonder that it is not an easy thing to make the right choice.

When choosing a future career, we should consider different factors. In my opinion, money is one of the most important factors when you make a choice. There are highly paid jobs and low-paid jobs. For example, a businessman, a president or a film star, are highly paid jobs. A worker, a doctor or an engineer, are low-paid jobs. I think everybody wants to earn as much money as possible. Training, promotional prospects and conditions should be also taken into account.

On the other hand, it"s good when you get satisfaction from your job. It is very important to choose a profession that suits your interests. In my opinion, a job should be interesting and socially important. Some jobs are considered to be more suitable for men and others for women. For example, the professions of secretary or nurse are more suitable for women. A lifeguard or a pilot are more likely the jobs for men. You should also decide whether you want to work indoors or outdoors.

To make the right choice, you should take into account your traits of character. It goes without saying that to become a good doctor you must be patient, caring and kind. Teacher"s work requires love for children, profound knowledge of subjects, and the ability to explain. A secretary has to be efficient and careful in order to do her work quickly and accurately. Salespeople need to be friendly and persuasive, to get people buy their products.

There are so many people who influence us in choosing our occupation. Parents and friends play a very important role in our choices.

My father works for an international company as a managing director. It is a highly paid job and it offers a lot of opportunities. You can travel abroad and meet different people. My father is a friendly person and he is easy to talk to. He thinks that I must choose my future profession according to my taste and preferences. I respect him and I want to become a businessman, too.

I have always been interested in economics and I am good at Maths. I have an aptitude for working with people, and I think I"m rather communicative and have good social skills. I have good analytical abilities and I am good at problem-solving. Besides, I am good at English. English has become the standard language for all kinds of international business communications. To know English today is absolutely necessary for every businessman.

To become a successful businessman you should know a lot. So after finishing school I want to enter the university and to study marketing or management. Management deals mainly with people. A manager is a person who directly supervises people in an organization. Managers spend a great deal of time communicating, coordinating and making decisions affecting the daily operations of their organization. Almost everything, a manager does, involves decisions, and in decision-making there is always uncertainty and risk. So managing is a very interesting, but difficult, job.

Marketing deals with market research and commercial activity in general. It involves analyzing business situations, evaluating market opportunities, developing market strategies and controlling their implementation. It is important for a specialist in marketing to be flexible and prepared to make adjustments where necessary, as it is unlikely that any marketing plan will succeed exactly as planned.

I haven"t decided yet what to study. But I still have time to think and to choose.
